U.S. Embassy in South Africa recruitment: Open Jobs

The U.S. Embassy plays a vital role in maintaining a diplomatic relations between the United States and South Africa. Currently, the Embassy is accepting applications for the following open job opportunities:

Residential Security Coordinator

Education Requirements: Completion of Secondary School or Local Mandatory Schooling and received high school diploma

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be able to work independently; adhere to strict deadlines and manage residential security upgrades for all Chief of Mission (COM) residences.
  • The incumbent must possess a valid driver’s license. Familiarity with MS Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and Google Earth is required.

Administrative Assistant

Education Requirements: Completion of secondary school (grade 12) is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel); Ability to use the internet for research using various search engines/applications is required.
  • Good drafting and text editing abilities are required.
  • Keyboard at a minimum of 45 wpm is required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Ability to deal successfully with a changing environment, to adapt quickly, and to establish priorities independently are required.
  • Must have good numeracy skills.

Familiarity in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel is required.  (This will be tested).

Public Health Specialist (Counseling & Testing)

Education Requirements: Graduation from an accredited University with a master’s level degree in public health, behavioural or social work, or health education is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Skill in providing, direction, and technical expertise in the management and evaluation of public health programs. This includes the development of evaluation designs, use of reliable and valid instruments, and methods for data collection, analysis and reports.
  • Ability to participate in project teams and workgroups to develop effective working relationships with provincial, national and international working partners. 
  • The incumbent will be expected to exercise considerable ingenuity in applying guidelines to unique and different settings as the work is highly complex and can be threatening to stakeholders. 
  • Incumbent must have advanced computer skills with experience/training for word processing, basic statistical analysis and spreadsheets

State Program Assistant

Education Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in international relations, law, political science, business management, or public administration is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time, adept at planning and organization, effective time management skills, prior experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams, ability to work independently and coordinate with a team.
  • The position requires numerical skills for basic accounting and budgeting as well as basic budget analysis of project proposals.
  • Understanding and analysis of standard refugee and migration statistics is also required. Keyboard skills not less than 40 words per minute is required.

Data Analyst (Administrative Management Assistant)

Education Requirements: University degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information systems, Data Analytics, or Business Management is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Computer application literacy, MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, Outlook and strong experience with SharePoint.
  • Must be proficient with data preparation and be able to manage large unstructured data sets with the ability to convert them into organized and usable data.
  • Must have experience with Statistical analysis which will be used extensively in predictive analytics.
  • Incumbent should have experience with applied machine learning acumen to automatically detect patterns and trends in the data and expediting the process of harnessing meaningful insights.
  • Must have strong data visualization skills to clearly display data and translate insights to a non-technical audience.
  • Knowledge of data models and reporting packages.
  • Knowledge and mastery of the application of a wide range of qualitative and quantitative (e.g., Using Departmental business / accounting / processing systems) methods for assessing and improving effectiveness.
  • Able to effectively communicate formally and informally in writing and orally.
  • Able to apply analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to solve problems and addressing issues.
  • Able to create and utilize database systems to extract and synthesize date and information.
  • Able to perform and manage multiple complex projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Able to assemble and analyze relevant facts and draw significant conclusions.
  • Able to provide and model exceptional customer service.
  • Able to write comprehensive reports and translate technical data for a non-technical audience.
  • Must possess an analytical approach to problem solving with significant attention to detail.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required.  (This will be tested).
