The Higher Certificate in Economic Science (Commerce Study Option) additionally requires 18 points, English Level 3, and 30% in Pure Maths or 60% in Maths Lit.

If you plan to apply for any of these Higher Certificate courses at UFS, note that after completing a year of HC studies, you can progress to a Bachelor’s degree with two qualifications.

Regarding UFS points and Life Orientation (LO), achieving above 62% earns you 1 additional point. Grades B, D, and H equate to 18 to 24 points, allowing for application.

General minimum admission requirements

A National Senior Certificate (NSC) or National Certificate:

  • Vocational (NCV) Level 4, and an AP of 18.
  • Four subjects on Level 3 (40%-49%), excluding Life Orientation.
  • Language of instruction on Level 3 (40%) for all options.
  • The writing of the National Benchmark Tests is not applicable.
