Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 10 or equivalent qualification with at least 5 years’ experience in driving or messenger services; or
- Grade 12 qualification with at least 3 years’ experience in driving or messenger services
- Valid Code 10 (EC1) driver’s licence
- Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP)
- Certified copy of the PDP must be attached where required
- Knowledge of key transport regulations in South Africa
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Reliability and punctuality
- Willingness to work day shifts, night shifts, weekends and public holidays
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for transport-related duties within the hospital. Duties include:
- Safely and legally operating state vehicles
- Transporting patients and staff to different destinations
- Delivering and collecting official documents and stock when required
- Delivering stock internally and externally
- Reporting incidents involving vehicles
- Inspecting vehicles and arranging repairs or maintenance when needed
- Handling vehicle keys, fuel cards, fuel receipts, operating tags and logbooks
- Completing logbooks and transport request forms accurately
- Ensuring compliance with South African National Transport Regulations
- Carrying out lawful transport-related instructions from the Transport Officer
