The SASSA gold card has not expired.

SASSA Mpumalanga advises all beneficiaries to ignore the expiry date on the gold card, the cards are still valid until December 31, 2023. The expiry date has caused panic among beneficiaries as they visit SASSA offices in large numbers.

The SASSA gold card has not expired, it is valid until 31 December 2023

Although the SASSA Gold Card is still valid, recipients have the option to choose a payment method that suits them. The change of payment method must be registered in the system on the dates specified. The beneficiaries have the opportunity to make changes before the 15th of each month. To avoid long queues at local SASSA offices, beneficiaries can submit a request for an alternative payment method at the SASSA services portal (https://services.sassa.gov.za/).

A total of 1,594,478 beneficiaries in the Mpumalanga region receive monthly social grant support. Of this number, approximately 48% (758,618/1,594,478) of the beneficiaries receive grants with a SASSA/SAPO gold card.

Social grants can be obtained from cash payment points, SAPO branches, ATMs and retailers. There are 53 active cash payment points and 81 operational SAPO offices in the region, where beneficiaries receive social grant support.
