SASSA Confirms: No need to reapply for SRD Grant if Approved

SASSA Confirms that there is no need to reapply for SRD Grant if your application is approved. South African Social Security Agency will continue to distribute the Social Relief of Distress Grant to eligible beneficiaries.

SASSA Confirms: No need to reapply for SRD Grant if Approved

The government of South Africa officially introduced a special COVID-19 Social Relief Distress (SRD) grant of R350, in May 2020. This was the first large scale digitally implemented social security measure, for an initial period of six months. Due to increased unemployment rate, the government has extended the grant period to March 2025.

Many South African people between the age of 18-59 rely on the SRD R350 Grant which is now increased to R370 starting from April 2024. If your application is approved and have been able to withdraw, you are not required to submit a reapplication.

Social grant payments are disbursed by the South African Social Security Agency and are paid to roughly 28 million beneficiaries in the country.
