Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Grade 12 / Senior Certificate (NQF Level 4)
  • 1–3 years’ experience in the security industry
  • PSIRA Grade C certificate
  • Firearm Training Certificate for Business Purpose
  • SAPS Competency Certificate
  • National Key Point (NKP) Certificate
  • Knowledge of Minimum Information Security Standards (MISS)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to operate security and control room equipment

Added Advantage:

  • A valid, unexpired driver’s licence

Applicants must be willing to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays, and must not have any pending criminal cases. Shortlisted candidates will also be required to complete practical assessments.


Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be responsible for ensuring the safety and protection of departmental premises and assets. Duties include:

  • Guarding and patrolling departmental facilities
  • Enforcing access control procedures at National Key Point (NKP) entrances
  • Searching vehicles, people, and property in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Act 51 of 1977
  • Preventing unauthorized removal of departmental equipment
  • Monitoring and operating security control room systems
  • Arresting trespassers or offenders within the NKP area
  • Recording all security incidents in the Occurrence Book
  • Implementing emergency procedures during threats, riots, or other security incidents
