The New Verification Method for SRD R350 Grants From Sassa. Sassa has implemented initiatives to improve the security of the R350 grant so that recipients are less vulnerable to fraud. One of these measures is the introduction of biometric identity proof for individuals using Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant.
The New Verification Method for SRD R350 Grants From Sassa
This new requirement affects users who need to perform tasks such as removing money transfer statuses, opening Postbank accounts, updating mobile numbers, and choosing cash payments. The introduction of biometric authentication aims to strengthen security measures and prevent fraudulent activities within the Agency grant system.
In order to ensure the integrity and legitimacy of the R350 grant, Sassa has taken this step as it provides essential financial support to those badly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. By applying facial recognition technology, Sassa strives to accurately verify the identity of applicants, reducing the risk of fraudulent claims and increasing the efficiency of the system.
Persons entitled to the aforementioned services will receive two text messages from Sassa. It is important that R350 beneficiaries click on the link in the second text message within 72 hours (3 days) as the link will expire after this period. Failure to complete biometric identification by the deadline may result in delays or rejection of applications.
To assist recipients with questions or problems, Sassa has set up a dedicated call center that can be called on 0800 60 1011. Clients can also contact grant enquiries@sassa.gov.za to request a return of the confirmation text.

Although this new biometric identity verification process may initially be difficult for beneficiaries, it plays a key role in ensuring the integrity of emergency social assistance. Using facial recognition technology, Sassa strives to maintain transparency, minimize fraud and ensure that grant money reaches those who really need it.
