SASSA Gold Cards: Important Message for Beneficiaries

SASSA Gold Cards are still valid, here’s the important message for beneficiaries. South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) advised that grant recipients can continue to use their old cards for transactions until further notice.

Following an announcement by Postbank, SASSA gold cards will not expire and will continue to work for grant payments even in 2024.

Postbank is pleased to announce the great news that millions of SASSA grant beneficiaries will continue collecting their grants safely and reliably with their old SASSA Gold Cards. This important development means that millions of social grants beneficiaries do not have to change their SASSA Gold Cards to the cards of the other banks.

Last year, card holders were advised to renew their cards before 31 December, but things have changed.

Postbank spokesperson, Dr Bongani Diako has warned recipients of state grant to ignore any misleading information that might lead them to change to other banks thinking that the old gold cards are being replaced.

Postbank has played a vital role in ensuring that millions of beneficiaries receive their social grants on time and in secure manner.

“This important development means that millions of social grants beneficiaries do not have to change their Sassa gold cards to the cards of the other banks.”, said Dr Bongani Diako.

He also said that grant recipients are free to use their cards to withdraw money from a wide network of the country’s ATMs. Also at well known retailers such as Shoprite, Checkers, Pick n Pay, Spar, Usave and Boxer.
