SASSA Gold Cards Expire in March 2023.
On March 9, 2023, SASSA published an announcement on their Facebook page inviting recipients with gold cards expiring in March 2023 (03/2023) to pick up their new gold card at the nearest post office.
People with SASSA Gold Cards that Expire in March 2023 should collect new cards
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) are calling on all social grants recipients using the SASSA/Postbank Cards that are due to expire in March 2023 to collect their new cards at their nearest Post Office branch.
Rest assured that if your card expires after March 2023, SASSA and Postbank have announced that the dates and process for getting your new card will be made public. You will also continue to receive social grant payments on your card as it is still valid.
What is needed to collect your new SASSA Gold Card?
To collect their new SASSA/Postbank Gold Cards, social grants recipients must bring along a South African Identity Document and the current expiring SASSA/Postbank Gold Card that expires in March 2023.

Post Office branch staff will assist grants recipients to activate the new cards, select a new PIN, and the cards will operate immediately to make withdrawals or any other type of transactions.
When can I collect my new Gold Card?
The collection of new gold cards will be from Monday, 13 March 2023.
Post Office Branch Trading Hours:
- Monday to Friday: from 08:00 to 16:00
- Saturday: from 09:00 to 13:00
- Sunday: Closed

If you have lost your card and it expires in March 2023, it’s recommended that you go to the nearest post office to get a new card.
NOTE: No person will be able to collect a card on behalf of another, unless they are registered with SASSA as a procurator.
