SASSA has confirmed and approved social grant payments for this Month (May 2024). If you are a beneficiary of ant of the grants offered by South African Social Security Agency, you may expect the funds this week.
SASSA Approved Payments for this Month (May 2024)
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) distributes several different permanent grants to people living in South Africa. These include the Older Persons pension grant, Disability grant, War Veterans grant, Care Dependency grant, Foster Child grant, Child Support grant, Child Support grant Top-Up and Grant-in-aid.
SASSA have started approving social grants payments for May 2024 and eligible beneficiaries are advised to withdraw at their respective pay points.
To apply for the permanent social grants, you can visit your local SASSA office. If you’re unable to due to illness or age, you can ask a family member to apply on your behalf. The Staff will assist you through with grant applications.
Alternatively you can apply online by following this guide:
- Visit the Sassa Services Portal
- Register as a new user.
- Log in with your newly created username and password.
- Click on “Apply For A Grant.”
- Specifically select the grant you’re applying for (e.g., Older Persons Grant, Child Support Grant, or Foster Child Grant).
- Complete the grant application form thoroughly.
- Print the Sassa-generated affidavit and have it certified by a Commissioner of Oaths.
- Print, sign, and submit the Bank Payment form along with the certified affidavit.
- Upload all required supporting documents in PDF format.
Those who rely on the Social Relief of Distress Grant (R370 Grant) can expect approval of their payment in the last week of May 2024 and in the meantime you are encouraged to use the status check option to track your funds.

We recommend that you track your SRD Grant application online because it’s easy and straightforward, here is how to do that:
- On your browser, visit official Sassa SRD website.
- Locate “Application Status” section.
- Enter your South African ID number and the phone number you used when applying.
- Click “Check Status”.
- View your status.
