Eligibility:
If you have a South African ID Card or Green ID Book with a 13-digit SA ID number, you can proceed with the application. Then if you are Asylum Seeker with a valid File Number or a Special Permit Holder from Zimbabwe, Angola, or Lesotho, you can also apply.
Application Channels:
- Online Application: You can apply for the R350 SRD grant online through the SASSA SRD website. Visit the website, enter your mobile number, and follow the steps provided.
- WhatsApp Application: Alternatively, you can apply via WhatsApp by sending a message to 082 046 8553. Include your name, surname, and ID number in the WhatsApp message .
To apply for the R350 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) Grant from SASSA, you can follow these instructions:
- Visit the SRD website by clicking here.
- Scroll down to the section titled “How do I apply for this SRD Grant” and click on the yellow bar.
- Enter your mobile number and click “Send SMS.”
- You will receive a one-time PIN from SASSA on the provided number.
- Enter the PIN to continue with the application process, filling in the required details as instructed by SASSA.
You only need to apply once via either the website or the WhatsApp number, and SASSA will process only one application received from each applicant. If you’ve already applied, your application will automatically be considered for each month until March 2025. If your circumstances change or you need to correct errors, you can update your existing application online. In addition, if your application was declined, you can submit an appeal through the DSD appeals website.
