The West Coast TVET College is proud to present an ETDP Seta Graduate funded internship opportunity for young persons who have completed a Diploma in Information Technology or a Degree in Information Technology) within a registered Tertiary Education Institution. Internship Programme is a (12) twelve months or (1) one-year opportunity the successful interns will report to the IT Manager and will be based at the institution’s Central Office in Malmesbury. Interns will be required to sign a twelve-month commitment and non-disclosure agreement.

The primary objective of this internship opportunity is to equip interns with essential practical work experience within a work environment.

The incumbent will gain exposure in the following areas:

  • Installing and configuring computer hardware, Microsoft operating systems and other applications.
  • Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and network infrastructure.
  • Taking staff or clients through a series actions, either face to face, over the telephone or via an online remote assistance application to help set up systems or resolve issues.
  • Providing support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports
  • Following diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or set up to a system.
  • Supporting the roll-out of new applications.
  • Setting up new user’s accounts and profiles and agreed time limits to call-outs.
  • Working continuously on a task until completion (or referral to third parties, if appropriate).
  • Prioritizing and managing many open cases at one time.
  • Must establish a good working relationship with other ICT employees and Management personnel.

Requirements or Eligibility
Additional to the tertiary requirements, the applicants must meet the following minimum requisites in order to qualify for consideration:

  • Solid communication skills
  • Able to perform under pressure in a multi-tasking role
  • Effective time management skills
  • Able to perform tasks within a team
  • A holder of a valid driver’s license is a preference but not a requirement
  • A South African citizen
  • Must be able to commit to a 12-month agreement
  • Good research skills; Good Computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite of Applications)

Internship Programme is a (12) twelve months or (1) one-year opportunity, the successful interns will report to the Finance Manager and will be based at the institution’s Central Office in Malmesbury. Interns will be required to sign a twelve-month commitment agreement.

The incumbent will gain exposure in the following areas:

SCM

  •  Review requests received for service/goods on the College’s system;
  • Contact suppliers for quotations as per guidelines set out in the College SCM policy;
  • Add quotations to electronic request on the College’s system;
  • Present completed request and relevant paperwork to the Procurement Officer and or Finance Manager for approval;
  • Process request to an “Order Status” and place order with supplier;
  •  Follow up on delivery of these items with supplier and with staff;
  • Match orders with invoices from suppliers;
  • Identify and resolve any discrepancies and forward to creditors department for payment;
  • Compile bi-monthly progress report and assist with resolving of commitment report.

Assets

  • Physical assets verification and barcoding,
  • Inventory count and valuation,
  • Recording of additions and reconciliation with General Ledger,
  • Preparing correcting journal entries for review by Senior Assets Officer,
  • Preparation of monthly reports for review by Senior Assets Officer,

Debtors

  • Raising debtors’ invoices and maintaining account,
  • Sending monthly statements and following on overdue accounts,
  • Capturing remittances against student accounts,
  • Reconciliation of debtors’ age analysis to General Ledger.

Creditors

  • Reconciliation of creditors accounts to creditors statement,
  • Processing of payments to suppliers and liaising with creditors,
  • Petty cash reconciliation,
  • Reconciliation of creditors’ age analysis to General Ledger.

Requirements or Eligibility
