Stellenbosch Municipality Internship Programme 2026
- Position: Graduate Intern (Integrated Human Settlements) – X3 posts
- Contract Duration: 12 months (one-year contract)
- Location: Stellenbosch, Western Cape
- Closing Date: 17 January 2026
Monthly Stipend
- Bachelor’s Degree: R6 500 per month
- Honours Degree: R8 000 per month
- Master’s Degree: R9 000 per month
The Integrated Human Settlements Department forms part of the Directorate: Planning & Economic Development and plays a critical role in:
- Housing development initiatives
- Informal settlements management
- Housing administration
- Supporting processes to effect title deed transfers
Graduate interns will work closely with Human Settlement Managers and gain real exposure to municipal planning and housing delivery systems.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
A Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma at NQF Level 7 in one of the following (or related fields):
- Development Planning
- Town Planning
- Engineering
- Human Settlements
- Construction Management
- Project Management
- Development Studies
Academic Background
Applicants must have academic training in at least two (2) of the following areas:
- Spatial Planning
- Land Use Management
- Development Facilitation
- Development Information (GIS)
- Integrated Human Settlements
- Project Management
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful interns will:
- Assist Human Settlement Managers with daily operational functions
- Support housing development and informal settlements projects
- Assist with housing administration and title deed processes
- Contribute to planning, reporting, and project coordination activities
- Support integrated human settlements delivery within the municipality
