Over 5.2 million SASSA gold cards are due to expire on the 31 December 2023. Early this year many Sassa Gold cards were due to expire but Sassa extended validity period. Recipients are urged to replace their Sassa cards as soon as they can before the deadline.
Over 5.2 million SASSA gold cards are due to expire on the 31 December 2023
Approximately 5.3 million SASSA gold cards are due to expire on the 31 December 2023, only less than three months left for beneficiaries to replace sassa cards before this happens.
Sassa gold cards branch can be collected at Post Office by beneficiaries whose current gold cards are expiring.
VISA and the South African Reserve Bank discussed that Postbank will extend the validity of the expiring cards if the replacement of cards is not available by 31 December.

Here’s what you need to collect the new Sassa gold card:
- South African Identity Document (ID)
- Expiring Sassa gold card
Beneficiaries will be assisted by Post Office staff in activating their new gold cards and selecting a PIN.
Note: The New gold cards are issued on Mondays and Tuesdays to old age grant beneficiaries and disability grant beneficiaries. Wednesdays to Saturdays are for issuing gold cards to all child support grant and all remaining grants beneficiaries.
