Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- ABET / Standard 8 / Grade 10 qualification
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills
- Experience in gardening, landscaping, or environmental cleaning will be an added advantage
- Must be physically fit and able to lift heavy objects
- Willingness to rotate between departments and sites according to operational requirements
Required Knowledge and Skills
Candidates should demonstrate the following competencies:
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Understanding of cleaning materials, equipment, and proper storage procedures
- Knowledge of repetitive cleaning tasks and facility maintenance
- Familiarity with relevant policies, legislation, and operational procedures
- Basic knowledge of hygiene and sanitation standards
- Ability to operate gardening machinery and cleaning equipment
- Good communication skills (reading, writing, and speaking)
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidates will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and cleaning tasks around the college premises, including:
Grounds and Garden Maintenance
- Watering plants and lawns through irrigation systems
- Weeding, pruning, and trimming plants
- Planting, seeding, and transplanting vegetation
- Mowing lawns and maintaining landscaped areas
- Spraying plants and disposing of organic waste
- Preparing and managing compost materials
Infrastructure Maintenance
- Maintaining road markings and painted surfaces
- Cleaning signs, light fittings, and outdoor fixtures
- Sweeping outdoor areas and maintaining canals and buildings
- Mixing and laying cement for walkways and driveways
- Unblocking drains and cleaning waste collection bins
Cleaning and General Support
- Cleaning and maintaining offices, classrooms, workshops, roads, pavements, and greenhouses
- Loading and offloading furniture and equipment
- Repairing minor defects on furniture, tools, and equipment
- Cleaning, oiling, and sharpening gardening tools
- Detecting and reporting malfunctioning equipment
