Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Grade 12 certificate or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification
- Knowledge of general clerical duties and administrative practices
- Ability to capture data, operate a computer, and compile statistics
- Understanding of the Public Service legislative framework
- Knowledge of working procedures within a public sector environment
- Sound understanding of records management (electronic and manual)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills, flexibility, planning, and organisational ability
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (MS Package)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Performing administrative procedures related to the care, treatment, and rehabilitation of state patients and mentally ill prisoners
- Receiving, processing, and submitting admission documents to the Deputy Director
- Administering and maintaining accurate records of state patients and mentally ill prisoners
- Updating electronic and manual record systems, including tracking patient movements
- Handling all enquiries related to forensic mental health records and documentation
- Responding to routine telephonic and written enquiries
- Providing administrative support to the directorate and sub-directorate, including special projects
- Checking the accuracy of subsistence and travel claims and submitting them for approval
- Assisting with travel arrangements, accommodation, transport, and parking when required
